Core Self Reclamation Therapy (CSRT)
Core Self Reclamation Therapy is a therapeutic approach that facilitates the process of reconnecting with one’s authentic self and reclaiming personal wholeness and well-being.
Crisis and suffering, although difficult to go through, can awaken unique abilities within you that might otherwise remain dormant and unexplored. Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) can help you make the most of these opportunities for healing and transformation. A key element of this therapy is undoing the feeling of being alone. Establishing a safe and secure therapeutic relationship is crucial to achieving this. Once that relationship is established, we can work together to explore emotional experiences, heal trauma and suffering, and cultivate positive transformations.
AEDP is a therapy that champions the innate healing capacity of the brain, and it does so by focusing on the power of neuroplasticity in a safe and attached therapeutic relationship. Through detailed exploration of difficult emotional and relational experiences, AEDP clinicians can help you rediscover your sense of self, become more resilient, and find a renewed sense of purpose. The therapy draws from various disciplines, including interpersonal neurobiology, attachment theory, emotion theory, affective neuroscience, body-focused approaches, and transformational studies.
CSRT focuses on helping individuals reclaim their core selves, the place within us all that is our innate capacity for love. When the world we meet is traumatizing or does not provide us with the unconditional love and acceptance we need, we respond by rejecting and condemning ourselves. This leads to the formation of the wounded self; the wounded self is based on false beliefs about the worth of the self and its place in the world.
In CSRT, the therapist pierces and melts defenses and toxic shame states that keep patients stuck in self-hatred and self-rejection. CSRT has roots in memory reconsolidation research, affective neuroscience, attachment theory and is influenced by Somatic Experiencing, Parts Work and Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy.
I view romantic and familial relationships as our most sacred and important attachment bonds. It is a secure bond with a partner or spouse that is often a natural anti-depressant! As an Emotionally Focused Couples and Family Therapist, I help partners and family members better understand emotions and take control of negative patterns in their relationships that fuel disconnection and conflict. Without a secure attachment with a partner or family member(s), our mental health is at risk. Through the Emotionally Focused therapeutic process, you can have the comfort of a secure loving bond return within your relationship with a partner or family member. If you choose to participate in this type of therapy with a partner or family member, a key focus will be in developing new ways to listen and stay attuned to another’s emotions and discover more productive ways to respond to various emotional situations and triggers.
As therapy is a collaborative process, finding the right match with someone whom you have a sense of rapport with is critical. If you would like to see if we are a fit to potentially work together, please contact me for a complimentary 15 minute phone consultation.
